With the Alpinestars Motocross Helmet SM5, Alpinestars introduces a relatively cheap motocross helmet. After Alpinestars previously released the SM10 as a premium helmet and the SM8 as a regular helmet, it was time to launch a motocross helmet in the cheaper price segment. Thanks to the Alpinestars SM5 motocross helmet, there is now the right helmet for every type of rider!
Alpinestars has developed the SM5 MX helmet through more than five years of studies, development and testing. The SM5 motocross helmet from Alpinestars has a shell which is manufactured from an injected thermoplastic with a special polymer mixture. The lining consists of different densities for optimal protection. The result is a motocross helmet that provides you with high protection, without having a too high price tag!
Alpinestars has put together a research and development team especially for all MX helmets. To be clear, it is not the case that the SM5 is manufactured by another helmet manufacturer, because Alpinestars has its own factory for this!
Alpinestars has added a number of high-quality protection elements:
Lightweight shell
The SM5 shell is made of a thermoplastic that is strong enough to protect your head, while the weight of the motocross helmet remains low.
Multi-density inner lining
The SM5 is equipped with a multi-density inner lining. This has been developed to absorb different types of impacts from low to high and to better distribute the energy. This prevents brain damage and/or brain trauma.
Innovative visor design
Another innovative design is that of the helmet visor. The visor is designed to be easily released in the event of a severe crash. Alpinestars has achieved this thanks to its patented system. This way the visor cannot scoop into the ground, which in the worst case stops the rotation of your head.
Note: with this helmet you are not able to adjust the visor
Both the visor and the patented system are replaceable.
Safe helmet trim
The lower trim on the side of the motocross helmet is provided with cut-outs for the collarbone and a soft edge. This prevents collarbone injuries when the helmet slams left or right.

- Emergency Release System (ERS) - In case of emergency, the cheek pads can be removed for safe and easy removal of the helmet while the helmet is still on the head
- Removable and washable lining which has been treated with Silverplus© so that the lining easily absorbs and wicks moisture
- Soft 26mm textile chin strap is wider than the requirement for increased safety and comfort
