After Alpinestars introduced the S-M10 motocross helmet as a premium MX helmet, it was time for a motocross helmet in a lower price range. That is why the Alpinestars S-M8 motocross helmet was developed. This motocross helmet consists of the same construction as the S-M10, but has traded the carbon shell for a fiberglass shell.
The S-M8 MX Helmet is the confirmation that Alpinestars' plan to enter the motocross helmet market has been successful. Today, Alpinestars does not only have a premium motocross helmet, but also a lower priced MX helmet. This way, Alpinestars is working hard to offer a possibility for every type of rider. The result is that thanks to the arrival of the S-M8 and S-M10, Alpinestars offers a total package.
The S-M8 motocross helmet is not just a motocross helmet. Alpinestars has put together a research and development team especially for the S-M8 and S-M10 MX helmets. In addition, it is not the case that the S-M8 is manufactured by another helmet manufacturer, because Alpinestars has its own factory for their helmet production!
Alpinestars has only had one goal with the S-M8 helmet and that was to be as safe as possible. Weight is a small part of that, but a low weight was certainly not the main goal. Currently, this helmet is less than 41% below the current standard. In 2020 the FIM will come up with a new standard where this motocross helmet is already far below!
To achieve all this, Alpinestars has added a number of high-quality elements based on protection:
Lightweight shell
The shell of the S-M8 consists of Fiberglass. Fiberglass is not only very strong, but also light weight. In addition, the shell is constructed with a radial ridge for extra strength. Thanks to this shell construction, both impact and rotation energy will be drastically reduced.
Multi-density inner lining
The S-M8 is equipped with a multi-density inner lining. This has been developed to absorb different types of impacts from low to high and to better distribute the energy. This prevents brain damage and/or brain trauma.
Innovative visor design
Another innovative design is that of the helmet visor. The visor is designed to be easily released in the event of a severe crash. Alpinestars has achieved this thanks to its patented system. This way the visor cannot scoop into the ground, which in the worst case stops the rotation of your head.

Both the visor and the patented system are replaceable.
Safe helmet trim
The lower trim on the side of the motocross helmet is provided with cut-outs for the collarbone and a soft edge. This prevents collarbone injuries when the helmet slams left or right.
Mips technology
The S-M8 is equipped with the latest E-2 generation MIPS. Mips, Multi-Directional Impact Protection System, is the technology in which the inner shell can rotate in the outer shell. This ensures less friction in a crash where rotating forces apply.
Patented A-Head system
When the helmet is not completely to your likings then it is easy to adjust the inside with the four "hooks" on the top. This patented "A-Head" system from Alpinestars lets you easily adjust the helmet a little higher or lower, or even slightly further upwards or downwards. This way you can always find the perfect fit.
