Alpinestars has been setting the standard for protection and performance with the Tech 10 Motocross Boots for years. To stay ahead Alpinestars has chosen to completely renew the Tech 10 motocross boots in the 2019 season. By using the latest innovations, but staying true to the iconic Tech 10 look, the boots look like they haven?t changed. However, when you dissect the boot, the new model is safer, lighter, stronger and more comfortable! Alpinestars has made improvements on every aspect which ensures that these motocross boots are one of the best on the market!

The redesign of the Tech 10 was mainly about improving on 3 points:

1. Improve functionality, performance and safety
2. Reduce the total weight
3. Reducing the material volume

By carefully tackling these points, the Alpinestars team has managed to make big steps forwards!

Improve functionality, performance and safety

Tech 10 is known for its comfort and therefore one of the key points is that the Alpinestars boots should be a pleasure to wear in all conditions. The goal was therefore to improve the functionality, performance and safety of the motocross boots, while maintaining high comfort. A number of new and important upgrades from the Tech 10 are: Frontal Flexion Control Frame, the asymmetrical Dual-pivot Arms, The patented Dynamic Heel Compression Protection Shock Absorber and the slimmer, more streamlined, outsole.

Reduce the total weight

The Alpinestars team has drastically reduced the weight of the Tech 10. First of all, Alpinestars has adjusted the buckles. Here they have used a new composite aluminium which is lighter and more durable. In addition, the inner shoe has also been modified. The new inner shoe or booty is slightly lower and has a modified ankle brace system. The new buckles, new inner shoe and a new sole result in the new motocross boots of Alpinestars being 400 to 500 grams lighter than the old model! With this, Alpinestars tackled and solved one of the biggest downsides of the old Tech 10 model.

Reducing the material volume

Alpinestars has also managed to bring the volume of material to a minimum. For example, the new model is slimmer and more streamlined than the old model. The use of new, durable composites results not only in a lower weight, but also in a reduction in material volume.

Features Alpinestars Motocross Boots Tech 10:

• A breakthrough innovation for the Tech 10 is the introduction of the Alpinestars patented "Frontal Flex Frame"
• The "Frontal Flex Frame" is an innovative system build on the frontside of the boot that controls flexion, from the foot shell to the shin guard. This way, the system provides high performance motion control, and thus prevents hyperextension / overbending.
• "Frontal Flex Control" consists of a TPU connector system and connects the lower buckle plate with the top blade and the shin guard.
• Front stabilizer, or "Frontal Flex Frame" has been designed to float between the lower part and the upper part of the boot. This absorbs shocks by distributing energy over the frame while controlling forward and backward flexion.
• Asymmetric, dual pivot arms on the motocross boot frame
• A unique feature of the Tech 10 is the "Ankle Control System" which allows for natural movement of the ankle and impact protection.
• Asymmetric medial and lateral dual pivot system for improved flexibility and precision of movement.
• The medial pivot arm is placed higher so that there is less material volume in the lower part of the boot, creating more room to move for the inner ankle brace system.
• Less volume reduces wear on the inner side where the boot is in contact with the bike and increases the grip.
• Re-designed double-density TPU "Rear Blade System" is placed on the back of the boot, and is designed to avoid hyperflexion / over-stretching and to absorb impact.

DHCP - Dynamic Heel Compression Protector

• Built into the Tech 10's unique and lightweight foot chassis, the patented Dynamic Heel Compression Protector (DHCP). This innovative technology protects the heel by means of a soft poly foam that absorbs energy at high impact.
• DHCP has an impact protection system that significantly reduces the effect of excessive, potentially injurious energy transmitted to the ankle and lower leg.
• DHCP is designed and tested on the challenging tracks of the AMA Supercross, Nationals and MXGP

Inner ankle brace system

• One of Tech 10's distinctive features is the patented redesigned biomechanical inner ankle brace
• Lighter, anatomically redesigned medial and lateral arms are compact and offer more freedom of movement and control
• In conjunction with the chassis of the boot, the ankle brace provides vertical and lateral protection against compression and rotation of the ankle or leg, or progressive damping during a crash. This while maintaining the natural freedom of movement.
• Double pivot system ensures that the Tech 10 maintains its integrity during flexing making the boot suitable for any type of ankle width. In addition, this also gives the progressive resistance to rotation and vertical forces.
• New low-profile, pull-on design for less material volume, lower weight and easy and quick wear.
• The ankle brace system only works optimally when you wear the combination of inner shoe / booty and motocross boot.
• TPU protection and shock-absorbing padding on the heel and ankles with an ultra-thin and flexible forefoot area for improved feel and control
• Dual compound removable anatomic footbed contains EVA for comfort and support and helps ensure even weight distribution

Construction

• Anatomically shaped shin and calf protection.
• The new Tech 10 features a slimmer and more streamlined design in combination with a calf protector that fits ergonomically around the back of the leg.
• TPU calf protector has been manufactured from a dual density compound and has been combined with the innovative Alpinestars blade system for progressive damping.
• The shin protector has a new anatomical design with a smaller surface for weight saving and energy management.
• Unique sole integration.
• Completely redesigned outsole with grip pattern to improve performance on the footpegs, increase grip, and improve mud and water run-off.
• Exclusive dual compound sole is seamlessly integrated with the multi-density base structure with built-in support.
• The sole offers superior durability, grip, feels good while riding and performs better during shifting.
• The central sole also features a small grip pattern on the sides for lateral grip.
• Improved buckle closure system.
• Buckle closure system is anatomically redesigned to save weight and be even more ergonomic. The new buckles contain a nylon and glassfiber connection for increased durability and strength.
• New buckle closure system incorporates high impact bridge closures which have been cold forged for precision and strength.
• The quick release / locking system includes a self-aligning design, has a simple, accurate closure and ensures improved riding performance and protection.
• All buckles are easy to replace.
• Innovative, lightweight upper construction.
• The chassis of the Tech 10 combines advanced lightweight microfibre with an impact and wear-resistant TPU shell.
• The foot shell contains five different compounds in a single lightweight part to provide strength and maintain flexibility and structural integrity.
• The foot shell contains heel and toe protection, is impact and abrasion resistant and improves the durability of the mx boots.
• Foot shell also includes an integrated shaft for support and structural integrity.
• Frontal protection features a dual closure system for a precise fit and a secure closure. This is firmly attached with a small adjustable, easy to operate, lightweight buckle.
• Soft microfibre gaiter helps prevent excess water and dirt from entering.
